Meet Marinn

Marinn Pierce (she/her/hers) holds a PhD in Counselor Education from the University of Tennessee and M.S. and Ed.S. degrees in Community Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Greenbsoro. After spending more than 10 years training professional counselors in the academic setting around the country, researching and teaching about trauma-informed practices, and continuing to see clients, she opened The Embodied Resilience in an effort to offer what she learned with individuals.

While I have a background in psychotherapy, embodied soul care is not a psychotherapeutic approach. We will work together to transform your relationship with your body, explore the systems and structures that impede growth, and integrate this learning into your present-day lived experience. I believe in providing a safe space for self-exploration and personal growth and that all individuals have the potential for positive growth and healing. I am a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner and currently serve as an assistant in this method. I am also a Transforming Touch Therapist®. I have had the privilege to train with Ariel Giarretto, Raja Selvam, Abi Blakeslee, Nancy Napier, Jane Clapp, Carol Lampman, Steve Terrell, Ray Castellino, Dave Berger, and Kate White.

Additionally, I completed advanced training in the following areas:

  • Somatic Experiencing®

  • Movement for Trauma (Level One)

  • Integral Breath Therapy (Master's Level)

  • Registered Yoga Teacher - 200 hour

  • Transforming the Experience-Based Brain

  • Prenatal and Perinatal Implicit Memory

I believe safety is paramount in helping relationships and is the foundation for all other growth and healing, and I strive to create an environment in which my clients can experience their innate courage and resilience. I utilize somatic approaches to support clients in changing their relationships with their bodies and achieving other personal growth goals.

The process of growth and healing can feel daunting. It my hope and goal to create a safe container for individuals to feel courageous enough to do this challenging work. I look forward to speaking with you about the possibility of working together toward healing and wholeness!
